Assessment Coordinating Committee: The Assessment Coordinating Committee fulfills an advisory, monitoring, coordinating and regulatory role at Dakota State University in assessment matters and advises the Vice President for Academic Affairs on the implementation of the DSU Academic Assessment Program. As a part of the Institutional Graduation Requirement (IGR) Tech Exam sub-committee, I am involved in the discussions on motivating students to take the exams that otherwise are not credited. At a departmental level, I assisted my English faculty to develop direct measures for the English in New Media Program. I developed the Professional and Technical Communication major direct measures for assessment.

Student Success Committee: I have been nominated by my Dean of Arts and Sciences, DSU, to represent the English program in the Student Success Committee. I am responsible for keeping a track of the ENGL 033 - ENGL 101 co-requisite model and determine if the model is effectively improving student success in writing. While keeping track of the data and analyzing what the data reveals, I am in conversation with the forum members of National Council of Teachers of English regarding similar models that other schools in the country might be following.

NCTE Policy Analyst: I am the South Dakota representative of National Council of Teachers of English Policy Analyst. This Policy Analysis Initiative of National Council of Teachers of English, Conference on College Composition and Communication, and Two-Year College English Association is an active group that has effectively brought about significant State-level policy changes in the discipline of English.

Continuous Quality Improvement:I am a representative of the DSU College of Arts and Sciences at the Continuous Quality Improvement Leadership Committee. It is through CQI that we maximize institutional effectiveness and support the university’s mission and strategic plan. Continuous quality improvement is a comprehensive approach used by DSU faculty and staff to evaluate and enhance processes, programs and services, and to improve student learning.

Junior Achievement Program: As part of the Junior Achievement program, I have been assigned to teach a class in Madison Middle School for six sessions.

Departmental Promotional activities: I developed the Online Writing Lab website for Dakota State University, designed the department website, and revised the English programs brochure.
